Qiviut
Qiviut yarn is a rare luxury yarn made from the undercoat of the muskox. It is the ultimate in warmth and softness – much warmer than wool and softer than cashmere. Muskoxen live in the arctic tundra of northern Canada & Alaska, and they shed their undercoats each spring. The undercoat fibres can be combed from semi-domesticated muskoxen, obtained from the pelts of wild muskoxen hunted by the Inuit, or retrieved from objects muskoxen have rubbed against in the wild.
